ABOUT US
Mission India FHL was founded by Grant and Ruby Murray in Geelong, Australia. They were both born in India, Ruby growing up in Allahabad and Grant in Kolkata. As a result of the 1940's Indian Independence movement, in which Ruby's father played an important part together with Lord Mount Batten and Mahatma Gandi, many British-Indian people left India for the UK in the 1950's. Grant and Ruby left India for England with their respective families.

Grant and Ruby were destined to meet in England, marry and after the birth of their child, immigrate to Australia where they established a family business in Geelong, Victoria. After Grant's retirement at age 65, he felt the call to return to his country of birth and start a mission to assist destitute Indians. With the blessing of Ruby his wife, Mission India Faith Hope and Love was born with the view to purchase a property to serve the destitute.

The mission operates in the northeast of India. We are a registered charity trust in India under the name of Mission Village Haven Society. Our charity operates on beautiful, rich farmland that provides the opportunity for the mission to become self-sufficient. Our vision is to provide the opportunity of a better life for destitute Indians, orphans and widows. Orphaned children are cared for by a number of adults and a caretaker living on the property and are provided an education within the local school system. The children now have a hope, love and a future.
While we provide housing, the farmland, plus a small amount of funding for the facility's day to day operations, the residents work the land to provide food for themselves. Currently they grow rice, corn, seasonal mangoes and other crops are planned for in the future. However they are unable to meet all of their needs from farming activities.

We also provide facilities for a visiting volunteer medical practitioner, who provides part-time medical services to the residents and local villagers.

We are a relatively small mission but are blessed with an enthusiastic band of committee members with a vision to increase the number of destitute Indians, orphans and widows we help. Further information on how you can partner with us is included on this website.
